Merevale & Blyth Estate is a privately owned and managed landed estate which is situated in the heart of the North Warwickshire countryside. It extends, broadly, between the attractive market towns of Coleshill to the South and Atherstone and the Leicestershire border to the North. It has been in the same family ownership for some 400 years based at both Blyth Hall near Coleshill and Merevale Hall near Atherstone.
Merevale Hall (top left hand corner) is dramatically situated at the end of a narrow peninsular above Atherstone. Replacing a former Manor House, it was designed by Edward Blore and completed around 1840 and has been occupied as a family home continuously since then.
The objectives of the Estate are focused on the long term stewardship of the countryside whilst encouraging the rural economy to flourish through sustainable diversification. The Estate has a traditional character and comprises arable and grass land occupied by the home farm as well as let farms, extensive woodlands and a diverse range of property. This includes residential and business premises, all of which are let and managed through the Estate Offices. There are many commercial development opportunities available within the Estates, which are undertaken either by ourselves or through partnerships, to fit alongside our other property lettings.
Examples of recent projects include an extensive modern office development, construction of the Kingsbury Branch railway line and building a canal-side marina. Current projects include the development of a 60 acre former colliery site, mineral extraction, a hotel development and the production of renewable energy from the Estate's farms and woodlands. Alongside these projects we are actively involved in large scale woodland plantings, environmental land management schemes and attempts to increase biodiversity through habitat creation and maintenance.
Developing the resources of the Estate for the long term, whilst retaining its unique character and working in partnership with the local community, is the focus for all the activity on this busy and diverse rural Estate.
